FISH, anchored to the Fisher computed at the initial optimal parameters, cannot adapt as parameters move during Task B training, leading to misalignment with the true local geometry. EFC, by contrast, dynamically recovers off-diagonal curvature from network interactions at the current parameter configuration, ensuring consistency with the evolving Task A and Task B landscape.

Outcome: EFC's ability to dynamically adapt its curvature representation allows it to preserve prior task performance more effectively, even when only diagonal information is explicitly stored for the preservation signal.
